Fall Cleanup & Stewardship Workday — October 3

Friends of Healing Springs Natural Area is hosting a fall cleanup and stewardship workday on Saturday, October 3, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and we’d love to have you join us.

We’ll meet at the Healing Springs common-area pond and spend the day helping clean up and care for Healing Springs Natural Area and surrounding areas.

This will be a broad cleanup and stewardship day rather than a single project. We’ll work on a variety of tasks depending on what needs to be done and how many people show up.

The goal is simple: help take care of Healing Springs Natural Area and leave the area better than we found it.

Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission (ANHC) staff will be joining us. It’s a great chance to spend some time together, learn more about Healing Springs Natural Area, and help with hands-on stewardship.

You don’t have to stay all day. Come for an hour, come for the morning, or stay all day—we’d love to have you.

Anyone who wants to help is welcome. This is a community workday, not a formal volunteer requirement.

Possible work

We’ll keep the day’s work flexible. Depending on conditions and how many people join us, we may:

• Do general cleanup and remove debris
• Pick up tires and other accumulated trash
• Trim vegetation and small branches
• Do light trail stewardship and maintenance
• Help with other small stewardship projects identified by Friends of Healing Springs Natural Area and ANHC

This is not a tree-removal event, and we are not asking volunteers to cut down large trees. Any larger vegetation work remains subject to ANHC requirements and approval.

What to Bring

Come prepared to work outdoors for several hours.

Recommended:

• Work gloves
• Water and hydration
• Sturdy boots or work shoes
• Sunscreen
• Bug spray / insect repellent
• A hat and weather-appropriate clothing
• Tools for trimming small branches and vegetation, if you have them and are comfortable using them
• A riding mower with a utility trailer, if you have one and it is appropriate for the workday

Bringing tools or equipment is optional. Please don’t bring anything you are uncomfortable operating. We are not asking anyone to bring chainsaws or other heavy equipment.

RSVP

Please let us know you’re coming. An RSVP helps us plan the day and match people with the kinds of work they enjoy. Submitting an RSVP does not mean you have to stay for the entire event.
